These small mirrors were based on a design by a contemporary of Mackintosh, by another graphic artist who worked for Blackie's Publishing, Ethel Larcombe (or possibly Talwin Morris). Morris designed many book covers for the publisher Walter Blackie, who was a client of his. The book covers all exhibit a strong 'Glasgow style' to them. We took one of them and used it as a mirror border. We probably wouldn't do more of them, it was more as an experiment. But they do look good.

We revisited this border design recently for a client, who wanted a larger mirror to make an impact in their home. We adapted the design to make the frame 3 ft / 1M height. It also benefits from the addition of a small cornice, for more interest. This size of mirror frame works well in an interior and is one we would make again. We don't quote for these until we've agreed the size and spec. for it, as made to order.
