These robe designs are clearly influenced by Mack's last major commission at 78 Derngate, some of the most striking interior's he ever did. The living room there woodwork was painted a dramatic black, with vivid jewel like stained glass panels placed in some of the screen squares. We took this idea and created the following wardrobes. Many of Mackintoshs' cabinets had small offset panels, which were treated decoratively. So we used this idea for the wardrobe designs. The panels have inset stained glass, using motifs from Derngate. These robes work best with an even number of doors, we've shown a 4 door version below, with a breakfront for added interest.

If we use clear glass in the stained glass you can see through to the interior of the wardrobe. If you want to avoid this we could use satin mirror glass or zinc, so you see the pattern clearly without being able to see inside. The robes themselves can be supplied freestanding or built-in, primed or finished. If having built-in robes they are usually finally finished in the room, as they will get some marking during installation. The carcases can be fitted out however you like, and are generally a wood interior. Made to order. We don't discuss sizes or pricing until we've agreed a spec with a customer.
