Who says Mackintosh style can't adapt for modern living requirements? Closets, especially walk-in closets have become popular over the last 20 years, allowing you to have a room totally devoted to clothes storage and display, with easy access to everything. So we took the closet idea and gave it a Mackintosh look. The tall vertical rails were based on a Mackintosh design, and the decorative squares & lines are very much as he did them. The strong contrasting black plinth & top rails tie in with matching height skirting baseboard and picture rails, another typical Mack design element, creating strong horizontal lines around the room. A matching wall mirror for dressing completes the room.
The closet width and shape can be adapted easily to the room size you have; more or less closets can be added, you can have a straight run along one wall, an L shape for a room corner or a U shape as shown above (the nearest wall was removed from the design so you can clearly see the closets. Also, the width of the closets themselves can be increased or decreased as required. Although Mack has an instantly recognised look, he designed in a range of styles and palette of finishes, which we can offer. Many of the designs below show ideas for finishes.
The closets themselves are straightforward to produce and install. The closet compartments can be fitted out anyway you want, we've shown some ideas in these designs. Other options we can supply are pull-down hanging rails, shoe racks, tie/belt rails, linen basket, etc. The backs of the wardrobes can be fitted with matching back panels or can be left open. The closets themselves can be supplied freestanding or built-in, primed or finished. Bear in mind it is usually not practical to deliver completely assembled closet wardrobes, due to access problems and the weight - they are usually assembled in the bedroom. Made to order. The above design shows how we can extend the look of the wardrobe range to a whole room. Mack liked to create visual 'panels' in his interiors, it broke up blank walls and gave a sense of rhythm to the room and allowed for decorative details to be introduced. This dining room shows the walls 'panelled' with the same verticals as the wardrobes, and even used for other pieces of furniture. Even the room door has been given the same styling. and
