These robe designs are classic Mackintosh in style and elegant. The cabinets themselves are very straightforward, Mack often used off-set small panels in his furniture as these robes do. What makes the robes are the decorative panels. We used a Mackintosh stained glass design, from a white painted cabinet, and transferred it to a marquetry veneered panel, which we can use in a variety of ways for furniture panels. The design features the rose and squares, which he could vary endlessly. It is interesting to see the design swapped to flat wood veneers, similar in treatment to his stencilled designs. Within reason we could produce these panels in any size and wood combination, or we could produce it in stained glass as the original if you prefer. We can also add the decorative panels on the sides, as shown below.

These robes work better with an even number of doors, as the panels are paired, but would work with an uneven number of doors as well. There is a visual rhythym when you have several doors in a line, as the original tea room interior had. These robes are quite reasonable cost wise to produce, as there is a real simplicity to them. The marquetry panels do add quite a bit to the overall cost as you would imagine, but it is cost effective and justifies itself. You can choose any handles you want to go with these robes. The robes themselves can be supplied freestanding or built-in, primed or finished. If having built-in robes they are usually finally painted in the room, as they may get some marking during installation. The carcases can be fitted out however you like, and are generally a wood interior. We can use any handles you like. Bear in mind it is usually not practical to deliver completely assembled wardrobes, due to access problems and the weight - they are usually assembled in the bedroom. Made to order. These robes are not the tallest (although they could be taller) as they stick to Mack's original proportions. So double hanging space inside a robe is out. So the typical fit-out would be 1 shelf & 1 hanging rail per robe. But you can fit them out many ways, as shown above.

Some fun designs - Large marquetry versions;

These designs take the marquetry panel designs and use them in an almost Pop Art way, having large scale door panels. The robe doors probably look better with the panelled version, but the full size door panels are interesting. I think Mack would have had a bemused smile on his lips seeing these ideas. But he was a great man for playing around with his own designs.
