These robe designs are classic Mackintosh in style as well, typically painted white. Many of Mackintoshs' cabinets had small offset panels, which were treated decoratively. So we used this idea for these wardrobe designs. The square panels have inset stained glass, using patterns from the Ingram Street Rooms screen. These robes work with an even or odd number of doors, but there is a visual rhythym when you have several doors in a line.

These robes are quite reasonable cost wise to produce, as there is a real simplicity to them. But the stained glass panels add considerably to the cost. One point to consider when ordering such furniture is that you can see behind the stained glass - you will be able to see the soft shapes of a shelf and/or clothes, which might detract from the clean look. We could consider opaque/satin glass to over come this. But you might also want to see the glass panels illuminated from the inside, to make the design stand out more and provide soft mood lighting in the bedroom. This is all discussed on any particular project. The robes themselves can be supplied freestanding or built-in, primed or finished. If having built-in robes they are usually finally finished in the room, as they will get some marking during installation. The carcases can be fitted out however you like, and are generally a wood interior. We can use any handles you like. Bear in mind it is usually not practical to deliver completely assembled wardrobes, due to access problems and the weight - they are usually assembled in the bedroom. Made to order.
