FL Wright style bathroom
The inspiration for this bathroom furniture, part of a new range of designs, was a
Gene Masselink painted design, adapted for new work. It is testament to gene's
original design that some 80 years later this still looks very contemporary and
striking. Wrights bathrooms were often plain wood utilitarian style, but we wanted
to take this a stage further, and incorporated some of the decorative ideas used by
Wright and Masselink for things like screens, doors, etc. The vanity units all have
the clean boxy shapes typical of Wright. The larger scale really suits the geometric
patterns.
The vanity unit is very unlike most of Wright's work by being a minimalist wall hung
piece; but as he was a master of cantilevered work this seems acceptable. Although
the pieces are painted onto a mahogany (a modern lookalike for mahogany), we could
potentially use a different wood if you prefer. Due to the shorter height of the
vanity it is probably best suited to a sit-on basin sink. As these designs are made
bespoke we can change the dimensions if required, but keeping the front proportions.
The worktop can be wood, painted, stone (granite, marble, Quartz, etc), Corian, glass,
etc. We generally leave it to customers to source their own taps, faucets, sinks &
basins, and worktops (unless it's a worktop we make), as these are personal choices.
Even if you don't have a bath, it shows how we can adapt ideas to produce new pieces,
such as wall cupboards or storage units for eg. Bespoke made to order - we don't discuss
sizes or prices until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.

3 door vanity unit alternate design;

The above design is a more substantial vanity unit compared to the wall hung
one above. The design was scaled up for a larger unit, which would give you a
good amount of storage space. The legs are a little bizarre and very un-Wright
like, but the large square legs were turned 45 degrees to echo the the squares
in the front design. They could of course be regular legs, or a plinth, if
preferred. Below is shown a 5 door wardrobe or storage cupboard, to show how
we can supply further matching pieces in ths style. More of these designs are
shown in the bedroom section.

We produced a 4 door wardrobe with a similar design, see bedroom section. Shown above is a
painted sample board for the client. You can clearly see the level of accuracy required to
produce the design.
You could extend the look even further and have a matching bathroom door(s);
