The inspiration for this vanity unit, part of a new range of designs, was a perforated design in a piece of Wright furniture, adapted for new work. It is testament to his original design that some 80 years later this still looks very contemporary and striking. Wright would probably have been bemused at first by his design being used in this way, then it probably would have sparked some new designs from him. The vanity units all have the clean boxy shapes typical of Wright relying for their decorative effect purely on the perforated / applied shapes (we can do either). They can be made in a wide range of painted colours, woods/finishes, or a combination of the two. The larger scale really suits the Abstract pattern.

We have shown a range of vanity unit options, from a smaller wall hung minimalist one to a 4 door version. The doors are on push catches for a cleaner look. They are usually fitted with an interior shelf(s). The perforated cut-outs can be either cut-outs or backed with a number of materials, from acrylic to glass, metal leaf, painted or wood veneer, etc.. As these are made bespoke we can change the dimensions if required. The worktop can be wood, painted, stone (granite, marble, Quartz, etc), Corian, glass, etc. We generally leave it to customers to source their own taps, faucets, sinks & basins, and worktops (unless it's a worktop we make), as these are personal choices. Bespoke made to order - we don't discuss sizes or prices until we have agreed a spec. with a customer.

The above 2 door vanity unit designs feature a much wider worktop; this unusual idea being derived from a few tables where Wright did this.

4 door vanity unit;

These 4 door vanity unit designs show how you could use either a single sit-on basin or have a couple of undermounted ones. Although the designs show nice spacious bathroom sizes, this is to show the furniture to good effect. Many Wright bathrooms were compact. And these vanity units while shown as freestanding could be built in as well.

Matching bath panels;

The great thing about bespoke work is that we do exactly as you want; so the above examples shown how we continued the abstract designs onto the bath panels, for a co-ordinated look. Even if you don't have a bath, it shows how we can adapt ideas to produce new pieces, such as wall cupboards or storage units for eg. The shower bath perforated cut-outs can be either cut-outs or backed with a number of materials, from acrylic to glass, metal leaf, painted or wood veneer. With acrylic you could even back light the the panel for subdued relaxing mood lighting in the bathroom.
