The owner of this typical small London en-suite bathroom wanted to capture the style of Frank Lloyd Wright. Wright went through several design phases, so which one do you choose? The following bathroom pieces of furniture drew their inspiration from Wright's Bazett-Frank house & those close in style to it.

The furniture detailing was inspired by the Bazett-Frank house furniture, amongst others. All the pieces were in a mid toned oak. Lots of flat surfaces, with horizontal banding, vertical strips, pierced frieze on the vanity unit, mission handles, etc all established the look. A matching oak skirting board runs around the room including the bath panel. Another nice touch is fitting the window reveal with a matching oak shelf. A seperate oak wall shelf was also supplied. The room could have the horizontal feel emphasised by having a picture rail, the same size and height as the wall unit frieze, carried around the room.

The vanity unit area was the main focal point in the room. The vanity unit has a black stone top with china sink, & squarish taps to match the furniture feel. Above this was a wall mirror, & to it's left a wall cupboard, all linked horizontally with a top shelf & pierced stepped cornice. The shelf above the mirror also incorporated 2 down LED spotlights to light the user's face, the spots being hidden behind the pierced cornice. The pierced cornice could also have had coloured glass behind it for another interesting effect.

It's the complete look & attention to detail that makes a room like this sucessful, from the bath panels, the wall shelf to the corner built-in wardrobe for extra storage. A matching bookcase was supplied & stood outside the door in the bedroom. The client had a shower in another en-suite bathroom, hence not needing a screen over the bath. This room was for relaxation.

With floor & wall tiles the bathroom was actually quite minimal yet still authentic Wright / Arts & Crafts. As often happens, photos are not taken at the time for several reasons; the room is too small to get decent photos, & customers who have been without a bathroom for 2 weeks (off their bedroom) just want to see the back of you asap, no matter how well you get on!
