Paul Frankl - Desks & home office furniture
This desk design draw heavily on Frankl's furniture, and not just his desks. They take
elements from many of his desks and other furniture to produce new pieces, but with that
unmistakeable Frankl Skyscraper look. The starting point for the desks on this page was
his largest bookcase desk, maybe his most complicated piece, we took the base section and
adapted that to a desk base. The x4 stepped base is striking, and the high stepped plinth
gives the piece such a crispness of design. The left hand side of the desk was inspired by
a Frankl desk, and is particularly inventive in capturing that skyscraper look. It provides
several drawers and cubby holes, as well as display space on top of the various sections.
The top follows the shape of the stepped base - this can be adapted in length as
required, within reason. Under the top there is a full extension drawer,
which is handleless for a cleaner look.
The desk top offers acres of work space. The right hand base section has 4 storage/display
compartments offering good storage. Then you have a large drawer for more smaller storage items.
If you want more storage we could either add a bookcase top section, as shown below, or choose
from any of the freestanding Frankl bookcases. The desk here is shown as a wood finish with black
keylines, but this could be finished as a lacquered painted piece, in any of the usual Frankl colours
or in any colours you want. The dimensions of such pieces, as they are made bespoke, can be
changed to your preferred sizes. Such a desk is a substantial piece of furniture, and complicated
to make and assemble - they are not cheap, least of all to ship. If you are on a budget these
probaby aren't for you. We don't disclose dimensions, further details or prices until we've
agreed a spec. with a customer.
Change the proportions and/or finish;

Thes designs above and following show how we can change the proportionsof such pieces yet
still keep the same look. This version of the desk needed to be shorter for a client, so
one RH end step was removed and the knee hole space was reduced as well as the depth was
reduced. This highlights the real advantage of bespoke designed furniture. Some examples
following show how the finish colour can be changed toproduce some even more striking
versions.

These designs above show how we can design and supply matching style furniture, from sideboards
to display units and bookcases. They are all made bespoke, so we can adapt them as you want.
