Arab style - Majlis sofas
We elaborated on our sofa platform style base to create, a still simple in some ways, piece
of furniture but with the intention to make a real visual impact in any interior. The back
was given an architectural shape, based on Mosque domes & minarets. The base can be plain
painted, decoratively painted or have an arcaded apron (as shown above).
If the back is to be upholtered it would generally have flats ends, although we could upholster
it to the domed shape. If the back is not upholstered we would prefer to shape the ends for
a more interesting profile. The finishing of these sofas can be treated in many ways, we've
shown a few examples below.
These sofas are usually pushed against a wall, with scatter cushions providing the comfort
and splashes of colour & texture. But they can sit in a room or terrace away from walls. As
these are made bespoke we can change the dimensions to your requirements, and change the colours
or have a purely wood finish base. We can supply the base & back cushions for this sofa, but
customer's to supply their own fabric for upholstering it or they can sort this themselves.
The base section can also incorporate some storage if required, with a lift up lid under the
seat cushion.We don't discuss pricing until we have a agreed a spec. with a customer.
We can adapt any of our designs and add arms/end supports at either one or both ends. The ends can
be further elaborated/decorated as required. These style of sofas often have cushion ends, so you
can choose which you prefer.
