A decoratively painted Majlis (Arabic for sofa) in it's simplest form. Majlis Arab style sofas are intended for casual relaxed seating for family and friends, and can be used for over night guests to sleep on. They generally come in 3 types - floor mattress, low platform or proper sofas. We make furniture, so floor mattresses are not something we get involved with. We designed this low platform style sofa as a decorative and practical piece of furniture. These sofas are usually pushed against a wall, with scatter cushions providing the comfort and splashes of colour & texture. But they can sit in a room or terrace away from walls.
The platform is quite basic in construction and can be quite economical to make, it is the decoration that makes the piece, and adds the cost to it. We have shown some other designs using this base and added more architectural details and sizes, see the other pages. As these are made bespoke we can change the dimensions to your requirements, and change the colours or have a purely wood finish base. We can supply the base cushion for this sofa, but customer's to supply their own fabric for upholstering it or they can sort this themselves. The base section can also incorporate some storage if required, with a lift up lid under the seat cushion.We don't discuss pricing until we have a agreed a spec. with a customer.
