African bookcases
How do you describe such a bookcase display unit? Somehow stunning isn't quite enough.
The modern minimalist shapes were combined with traditional African & Ndebele designs
to produce a very striking range of bookcases. This range was designed to be modular,
combining bays with various painted door designs with open shelf bays, to create visual
rhythms. Any of these would make the focal point piece in any interior, whether public
or private. The patterns and colours are a mix of Ndebele and generic South African
design using more muted colours.
We've shown a whole range design options below, to give you ideas, from 2 to 7 bay
straight runs, to corner designs, home office furniture, wardrobes, media centres,
etc. We'll probably add more pages as there are too many designs for a single page.
As these pieces are made bespoke there are no set sizes, they are made exactly to
you requirements. The open shelf units can have solid shelves (if more weight is to
be carried by them) or glass (for lighter display shelves). We've shown these as
floor standing cupboards, but could raise them up if preferred, ie on legs or a
plinth. To keep the clean front look we've used touch catches to open the doors,
but you can have handles if preferred. Just the fronts can be painted for a cleaner
look, but we could decorate the sides as well. But these would also look good with
the cupboard carcases in a dark wood finish, a typical African look. The bookcase
would be supplied requiring some straight forward home assembly, to fascilite
transport and access to your home. Made to order, we don't discuss sizes or prices
until we've agreed a spec. with a customer.
