If you are planning to create a Mackintosh style interior and furniture then probably the quickest and surest way to do it is to get the room detailing right. If you do this the room will have a Mack feel without any other pieces in it, and every piece of Mack style furniture you then add will be a bonus. And giving a room the Mack treatment can be done relatively easily and often quite cost effectively.
Mackintosh interiors usually included some form of wall panelling or treatment, with skirting /base boards and picture rails used to visually link the room walls, for a unified interior. His wall treatments created a rhythym and unity to the whole room, acting as a backdrop to the pieces in the room. You can even take this a step further with new interior doors in matching style.
This wall treatments section shows a few examples of rooms we've used this approach to, and include photos and CAD drawings. They will give you some ideas how the room interior walls can be treated in different ways to achieve a Mack look. Bear in mind, he left so many examples of his approach to this that we can design endless variations for any room, from living rooms to bedrooms, bathrooms, hallways, etc.
