This is a stunning double vanity unit with a beautiful painted design on the doors. The vanity unit was inspired by a Vanessa Bell 'Adam & Eve' design, c.1913. To think you can have a practical piece of art in your bathroom & use it every day. As a double vanity you obviously need a decent size bathroom to accomodate this. This would look really at home in a boutique hotel.
The vanity unit can be made to any size you want, even a single, but this particular design only really works as a double vanity. It's shown with a white worktop, which could be a modern quartz granite or painted wood, but you could have a range of worktops, from wood, granite, marble, Corian, Glass, etc etc. The vanity is shown with 2 sit on Carrera Marble round bowls, but you can choose between an undermounted sink, sit-on bowl, inset basin, etc.. You choose the tall basin mixer taps you want. The vanity side panels are T&G (tongue & groove) as this gives a more 'country' style look suited to the piece; but you can have smooth sides or they can be a different if preferred. The vanity unit is shown of raised feet, which allows your feet to go under the unit, allowing you to get closer to the basin & is therefore mroe comfortable to use. But the base could have a painted plinth if you prefer. The vanity unit is fitted with internal shelves & removable back panel for fitting pipework.
This beautiful bathroom furniture was inspired by an early Omega Workshops' design. While the Omega didn't do any bathrooms as such (bathrooms were still a new fangled invention c.1913) there are examples at Charleston farmhouse later on, by some of the same artists. The double vanity is complemented by 2 of our painted Bloomsbury style wall mirrors (see mirrors section), which use the same colours & tones as the painted design. We've shown 2 different wall mirrors for choice; The wall units could be made in wall units if preferred, to allow for some more storage. We can supply other painted furniture to complete the bathroom if you want, ie bath panels, cupboards, panelling, etc.. We don't give out sizes until we've agreed a specification with a client. Made to order.
Rather than doing as Omega & Bloomsbury did, in buying up junk furniture & decorating it, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. The bathroom pieces above are shown in a clean new painted finish, but we can antique & generally batter these pieces to give them an older look if you prefer. Shown above left is a 3 door version of the vanity unit, above right is the same 2 door version with a plinth rather than on legs.
This bathroom suite manages to do something they never did (& possibly never wanted to do either) & that was to produce a co-ordinated range of furnishings. They were artists generally producing 1 off pieces. The above bathroom shows how you can take & adapt their ideas & designs to produce new work. The result is very striking to say the least, but looks crisp & contemporary as well. These are the pieces that establish the look & feel of the bathroom, not the shower, WC, towel rail, etc. The WC seat could be painted the same colour scheme as well. Made to order.
