This is what happens when you let an artist interpret another artists work, a totally new take on the original to produce a very striking new bathroom vanity unit, mirror/mirror unit and bath panels. The idea for this sideboard cupboard was inspired by a Virgini Woolf book cover, one flat design being transferred to a different flat surface. The end result is an extremely elegant decorative piece of furniture. The designs and colours are typical of Bloomsbury style. Rather than follow the example of the original artists, in Omega & Bloomsbury, and decorate secondhand pieces of furniture they found, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces.
The vanity unit can have many worktops, from a limestone worktop, or indeed any colour stone, marble, quartz or granite, to a wood, Corian, glass, etc. You could also have a matching stone upstand. The height could be lowered if you wanted to use a sit on coolie basin rather than a lay-on sink as shown or have an undermounted sink. Internally it is fitted with 1 shelf. The solid back would have to have holes drilled for the plumbing. This unit is ideally suited to a normal family bathroom, which needs livening up with a piece of artistic furniture. Choose your own tap(s). We don't give out sizes until we've agreed a specification with a client, as made to order.
Rather than doing as Omega & Bloomsbury did, in buying up junk furniture & decorating it, we design & produce pieces from new with the designs planned from the start to create unified pieces. The vanity unit above is shown in a clean new painted finish, but we can antique these pieces to give them an older look if you prefer. As artists it's hard to resist showing other colour options, which might suit your preferred room colour scheme.
If you decide you want an ornate vanity unit like this you will probably need to consider what you do for a bathroom mirror, or for storage in a wall unit. We've shown 3 options above to consider. Top left is a large wall mirror based on an original design, see the mirrors section for more information; this has many inset roundels of mirrors, that look like large drops of water. We can change the size of this within reason. Top right we adapted the wall mirror to a very large wall unit, splitting the mirrir down the middle (which not everyone would like); but it does give a large amount of storage space. Bottom right is a smaller version of the mirror used as a 1 door wall cupboard.
If you want to really do a complete theme for the bathroom we can do a CAD design for you. We can also supply many other details for a complete look, such as bath panels in the same style.
